NDA is Congress plus a cow - Arun Shourie

BJP leader Arun Shourie said, “The people are recalling the days of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. NDA government is nothing but Congress plus a cow.”

Shourie, who attended a book launch function yesterday, said that, he believes that,   managing an economy means “managing the headlines”.

Comparing both the past Congress and present NDA governments, Shourie said, “There is a clearer belief (in the present dispensation) that managing economy means managing the headlines and this is not really going to work.”

Not stopping there, he gave a bold statement saying that, there is never a weaker PMO as now.

Shourie further added, “There has never been as great a centralization of functions, not power, of functions in PMO as now. If fellows don't have domain expertise that Brajesh Mishra had, LK Jha had, all these principal secretaries had, then things get stuck.”

“If you see impediments that were there in tax administration, virtually no change... Banking reform has been delayed by year and a half for no reason. So therefore this tortoise is very generous metaphor. This tortoise goes to sleep,” Shourie said.

Arun Shourie claimed that industrialists are afraid of speaking against the government. “The industrialists who meet the PM never speak truth completely. After meeting Modi,  they wonder what is happening and say 'please do something'. And in front of media they give the Central government 9 out of 10," Shourie criticized.

Shourie said that, Modi government should embrace the people, instead of fighting. He reminded that, the government needs the support of five Chief Ministers, if it want to build Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor.

Even the Chief Economic Advisor, Arvind Subramanian busted on the government saying that, work on the draft bankruptcy law is at an advanced stage. India is a "precautious development model” in both economic and political sense.

"India is not following normal economic development model. It is growing by defying its comparative advantage," Arvind added.

“We have lots of space to grow using our cheap labor. If we don't do stupid things, then we can grow very rapidly,” Arvind said.
