Five bodies recovered in Himachal mishap

Bodies of five students were recovered by the rescue teams from the Pandoh dam reservoir, who were washed away in the Beas river near Mandi district in Himachal Pradesh. The incident occurred at around 6 pm on Sunday as a sudden release of water from the reservoir of the Larji power project dam increased the water level in the river which has swept away the students.

However, bodies are yet to be identified and the fellow students who are the spot are helping the police in identifying the bodies.

Meanwhile the Himachal Pradesh government has suspended the officials who have released the water without prior notice to the local people. Telangana Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy reached Delhi short while ago and while flying to the spot in a special chopper.

The central government too responded seriously on the mishap and ordered the Himachal government for a detailed report.
