The Himachal Pradesh High Court has ordered the water department of the state and VNR Vignan Jyothi College to pay Rs 5 Lakh each to the student who died in the Beas river mishap as compensation. The Court also directed the College to send a status report by July 9th in regards to the compensation. On June 8th 24 engineering students of Hyderabad were swept away in the Beas river due to sudden rise of water level as the Larji dam officials have opened the gates without any notice.
