High Court Asks Explantion For RTC's Fare Hike

We find fault with the Auto Riksha and Taxi drivers when they demand more when it rains or when it is late night or when the public vehicles are less than the passengers waiting to go to their destinies due to strike or any other reason.  We say that they are taking undue advantage of the situation.

But the same practice is followed by the RTC and Railways during festive season.  They press additional buses and trains and charge more from the commuters.  Service is the same and distances are the same during the festival season also.  Then why an additional charge is to be levied?  In fact the festive season makes them earn more by giving an opportunity for an additional work!

A petition was filed in the High Court on RTC’s charging more during the festival time which was accepted by the Court.  The High Court asked for an explanation on the above from the RTC and the State Government.
