Third Warning at Bhadrachalam

Third warning is issued as the height of River Godavari reaches 53 feet at the temple town of Bhadrachalam.   It is expected to rise three feet more.

Charla- Venkatapuram road is submerged in the floods obstructing the traffic.  Many places in the Bhadrachalam division are hit by the prolonged floods.

Bhadrachalam town particularly the temple surroundings faces a peculiar problem in the rainy season.  The drain water of the town has to pass through the temple area to go into the river.  The same passage gives way to Godavari to come in to the town.  In order to save the town from the floods seeping through the main drain canal, a bandh is constructed with gates which will be closed when Godavari rises.  But when it is done, the drain water stays there.  Now the temple area is surrounded by the stinking water that is making the things worse.

Municipal authorities are making efforts to pump the stagnated water in the river over the bandh.
