Double Decker Bogies in AP

Double Decker Buses are extinct now because of many reasons.   They used to have two conucters and limted routs due to the height.  They have taken a new avatar in Indian Railway bogies.

Double Decker trains were first introduced between Howrah and Dhanbad.  Then the service is extended to Mumbai-Ahmedabad, Delhi-Jaipur, Mubai-Surat, Mumbai-walsad, Chennai-Bengalore and Indore-Habibganz.

These services are pressed only where the journey is during the day time and the travel is 4 to 7 hours long.  The height of the bogie is 4.366 meters where as the ordinary bogie’s height is 4.025 meters.  As these bogies only can serve for sitting without sleeping berths, these services are not run in the night journeys.

As per the information available from reliable sources, the service with the double decker bogies are under consideration to implement in the State for the services of Secunderabad-Bangalore and Secunderabad-Tirupati.  People of the State are hoping for a better Railway service in AP as Kotla Suryaprakasha Reddy of the State is holding the position of the Deputy Minister of the Railways.

The common complaint is that AP is contributing for the major revenue of the Indian Railways but proper share is not given to the State for the betterment of the services.
