Neelam cyclone effect in Andhra-Life out of gear

Cyclone Neelam, which hit the coast near Chennai a few days back, changed its direction and moved towards Andhra Pradesh on Saturday resulting in torrential rains. The situation in most of the coastal Andhra districts was not near normal as rains inundated several colonies and claimed even lives of four. Electricity supply too got disrupted in most parts of Vishakapatnam district. In fact, as on Sunday night, 40 villages witnessed complete dark since there was no power supply.

In Vizianagaram, the situation seemed to worst. The district collector has given a holiday to all educational institutions since commuting would be a problem as almost all major streets got inundated. In East Godavari district too the situation seemed to be the same. Farmers lost their crops. As many as 15 lakes were overflowing and it was reported that over 50 houses got completely damaged due to the floods.

Since the situation is worse, the railways too cancelled some of its trains to Vishakapatnam district in the last minute.
