Shanker Rao's daughter traumatized by police

Dr P Shanker Rao's daughter Sushmita has talked to a popular news daily on the Saturday's raid at her home while she called the police's attitude callous which makes her worried about the safety of her father.

Cyberabad police had conducted a raid at the former minister and the MLA from the Secunderabad Cantonment Dr P Shanker Rao on Saturday which has shocked the members of his family. The case registered according to the police was that he was involved in a land dealing issue. The reason behind the shock was that the police had no search warrant for the raid but merely a complaint registered against Shanker. Shanker earlier was involved in numerous acts to expose corruption in the State who went on to be called Anna Hazare of South India and anti-graft leader.

Sushmita in the interview said that she was traumatized with the raid and claimed that her father was a noble man who was not involved in any crimes. She lashed at the media for distorting facts and publishing incorrect reports. She called the raid an insult to the family of an eminent person who had been elected as MLA for six terms.
She retold the incidents at her house saying that they had not obstructed the search but they started pulling the house apart searching drawers and every inch of the house without a warrant. When questioned on the warrant, they had threatened her mother who is a diabetic patient.

Sushmita also suspects this to be a political conspiracy plotted by people with hidden intents. She called them cowards who wanted to take down her father for his righteousness against corrupt officials. "People who are behind my father are doing this as part of their vendetta politics", she said.

She also refused to name whom she suspected telling that the state knew the responsible people behind the raid. She was more determined than deterred by the threats of raids to fight corruption effectively and said that, "The people of the State will stand by us in our fight against corruption."

She also said that the person to be blamed was his Uncle Dayanand but the media had distorted the facts bringing his father into the case."The High Court dismissed the move to quash the petition filed by my uncle as the advocate representing him did not appear in court when the matter was called for hearing on September 27 last month.", she revealed.

She added this incident raised concerns about the safety of her father. An enraged Sushmita also lashed out at the state government for retracting the security at their house for no real reasons and that she would blame the state government if anything undesirable happened to her father.
