Traffic was disrupted on the NH 5 Chennai-Kolkata route today at Vijayawada. The protestors from Jai Andhra and Samakhya Andhra created a commotion when police tried to prevent them. The whole trouble brewed in when a group of Jai Andhra were going in a convoy to a meeting site. Police intervened and stopped them.
The convoy lead by Vasantha Nageswara Rao got into a heated arguments with the security personnel. In response to their prevention, Mr Nageswara Rao along with his associates squat on the road. Inspite of repeated requests from the police, the activists never moved from their places of protest.
The police had no other option but to arrest the leader to avoid a traffic chaos that stretched to miles. Exactly at this very moment activists from Samakhya Andhra also arrived and they in turn got charged up, seeing the chaos. And inturn started shouting slogans of unified Andhra.
