City turns ugly

Heavy down pour has thrown life out of gear in Hyderabad today. The roads and colonies were completely inundated with garbage dirt floating everyone. The city literally looked ugly today. While pedestrians had tough time to walk, the vehicles were moving relatively slowly to ensure that the wheels of the vehicles don't get caught in pits on the roads. Even main roads were submerged at several important junctions including Kukatpally, Allwyn colony, Uppal, P&T colony, Gaddiannaram, Kushaiguda, Panjagutta, AR Rao Nagar, Nacharam and Mehedipatnam.

Andhra Wishesh spoke to some people and this was the vox pop on their inconvenience:
"Since it's weekend, we came out to loaf around, have some good time. But, damn this traffic, which gets jammed each time there's rain. Now it would at least take an hour for us to get out of this traffic. This is what I call weekend blues...huh."

"God alone knows when the officials are going to respond to the problems of Hyderabadis. There's bad drainage system and water logging has become such a big menace that one find it literally tough to walk on the submerged footpaths. Besides there are excellent drivers on roads, who splash drainage water on clothes with their reckless driving. Officials should promptly look into this."

"My friend wanted to visit Hyderabad for the first time and I asked her to wait until rainy season ends. I don't want my city to be tagged as the worst city at least in her dictionary."

Will officials now at least look into the water logging issue in Hyderabad or pay a deaf ear as usually has become a topic of the town.
