Rs.5000 Crores to Bunder/Machilipatnam Port

The chief minister Kiran Kumar Reddy is busy campaigning for by-polls in his style. As instructed by the high command, Kiran Kumar Reddy is concentrating more on the developmental programmes and publicizing the different schemes and programmes that have been undertaken by the government.

In a fresh development, the chief minister Kiran Kumar Reddy has said that the government has granted as huge Rs. 5000 crores for the construction of Bandar port. The chief minister has even said that the government has already allotted land for this.

A GO was passed on Wednesday over the same for the construction of Machilipatnam port (or Bandar port). The government in its GO has allotted 5,300 acres of land for the port.

The chief minister has said that the government was working with transparency but certain obstacles had been delaying the developmental programmers. It is known that the project of construction of Machilipatnam port was given to the disowned sister company of Satyam, Maytas. Since the work was not taken forward by Maytas, it was given to Navayuga Engineering Company two year ago.

Although the project was handed over to Navayuga company, there was no headway due the confusion regarding the land of the port. Therefore, the Government on Wednesday passed the GO allotting the land.
Meanwhile, Kiran Kumar Reddy has asked the political parties not to politicize this issue. He made this request in the wake of the recent bandhs in Krishna district demanding Bandar port.

Since by-polls are round the corner, the government didn’t want to reportedly postpone the issue and take a chance. Will the current GO boost the confidence of Congress ahead of by-polls? Yes, say the sources, but only God known whether it would help the party draw a couple of seats in by-polls.
