Court defers hearing on bail quash plea by CBI

The CBI court that is trying Jagan disproportionate case has deferred the next hearing on petition filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation seeking the quashing of bail granted to one of the accused in the case, Vijayasai Reddy to April 18.

The court, which took up the petition today, has questioned the CBI as to why the CBI arrested only Vijayasai Reddy while there are 17 accused in the illegal assets case. The court reportedly questioned whether it was not favouritism in the enquiry.

As an explanation, CBI told the court that only Vijayasai Reddy was capable of obstructing the case and they were having required evident to support their statement.

The court after hearing the arguments has deferred the case to 18. It may be noted that CBI tried to move house motion petition to cancel the bail of Vijayasai Reddy but were unsuccessful as the Chief Justice denied.  Meanwhile, Vijayasai Reddy today appeared before the court to submit the relevant documents that the court directed him including the passport. CBI sleuths who arrested Vijayasai Reddy earlier said that Vijayasai Reddy pressed the key witnesses in the case prior to his arrest. (Phani)
