High Court orders probe against DGP

The Andhra Pradesh High Court gave a sensational verdict on Wednesday by directing the State Government for ordering an inquiry into the alleged assets of Director General of Police Dinesh Reddy besides filing criminal contempt of court against him for trying to hide his details from the court.  The High Court has also directed the Government to file criminal contempt of court against CID Additional DG, S V Ramanamoorthy.

The High Court Justice Ramesh Ranganathan gave this verdict stating that the duo were crying foul and spitting venom on each other only for higher posts. The court, in its direction to the government, has indicated that a senior official should be appointed to look into this matter.  The Justice has also made it clear that the inquiry official should be appointed within two weeks of receiving the orders and that the official should be of a higher rank than Dinesh Reddy and Ramesh Ranganathan.

The court has also ordered that the inquiry should be completed within four months and necessary action should be taken against the duo within two months after the completion of the probe.  The Justice has pointed out that just for power two high rank officials have misused the court and media.  He has also said that it was very unfortunate that the duo used media as a puppet.  (Phani)
