The Nalgonda unit of the Telangana political JAC has called off its 24-hour highway blockade in the district this afternoon after the district officials promised to restore 6-hour power supply daily to the farmers in the district with immediate effect.

The JAC unit has called for highway blockade protesting against the drastic power cuts to the district farmers despite the Nagarjuna Sagar and Srisailam reservoirs being full of water and power generated continuously.

With the highway blockade, vehicles were stranded up to 10 km on the highways, especially on Vijayawada-Hyderabad highway since this morning, causing unprecedented traffic jam.

“The revenue and electricity department officials have promised to restore 6-hour power supply to the district farmers with immediate effect leading to our decision of removing the blockade,” said the JAC leaders.
