PM assures decision on SCs classification

Minister P. Satyanarayana said today in Delhi that the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh had given an assurance to discuss the issue of classification of SCs in the congress core PM, SCs classification, PM assurance, P. Satyanarayana committee meeting and then take a decision but he did not give any commitment on a time-frame for the discussions.

Speaking to media persons after leading the all party delegation on the issue to the PM, the minister said that the PM had assured to discuss the issue in the core committee meeting as soon as possible. “But, he could not mention any time frame for implementing the assurance,” he said.

The all party delegation consisted of the leaders of congress, PRP, CPM, TRS, Lok Satta and MIM while the CPI, BJP and TDP refused to be part of the delegation. “I am hopeful of a quick solution to the problem,” the minister said.

Nandi Yellaiah, who was part of the delegation, found fault with the absenting parties saying that it was a matter related to the state and they should not have boycotted the delegation. “The MRPS, which is the main party to the issue, did not attend the meeting saying that the chief minister was not leading the delegation but in the past also the then chief minister YSR did not lead the delegation,” Yellaiah said.
