TRS MLAs call off hunger strike

trs-mla-imageTRS MLAs, who began a hunger strike this morning at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in the assembly premises demanding the Deputy Speaker Nadendla Manohar to accept the resignation of TDP MLA Pocharam Srinivasa reddy immediately, withdrew their agitation in the evening after Manohar promised to take a decision on it before Sunday.

It may be mentioned Banswada TDP MLA Pocharam Srinivasa reddy quit the party as well as the assembly and joined the TRS recently. He had submitted his resignation letter to the Deputy Speaker some days ago but Manohar did not take any decision on it till now.

Manohar had already received a complaint from the TDP leadership against Srinivasa reddy and two others Bala Nagi reddy and Nallapu Reddy Prasanna Kumar reddy and sought their disqualification from the assembly as they had violated party whip and resorted to cross voting in the council elections from the MLAs quota.
“We request you to act on our complaint first and don’t take a decision on his resignation till our complaint is first looked into,” TDP leadership requested the Deputy Speaker.

Alleging that Manohar has been delaying a decision on Pocharam’s resignation unnecessarily, the TRS members began their hunger strike this morning. Later Manohar assured them that he would take a decision on or before Sunday on his resignation following which they called off their agitation.
