Chiru sells himself to Congress Party

Praja Rajyam Party(PRP) President K Chiranjeevi today professed untagged support to the Congress Party Praja Rajyam Party, Chiranjeevi, Congress party, Veerappa Moily, YS Jaganmohan Reddy, Sonia Gandhi, AK Antonythereby clubbing his Praja Rajya Party with the Congress Party. After meeting the Congress Party Party President Sonia Gandhi in the national capital, the defunct PRP chief came out revealing the news that his party has merged with the Congress Party without attaching any conditions thereby.

Ratitfying his party's amalgamation with the Congress Party, Chiranjeevi said, "The merger has been worked out considering the larger interests of the state rather than personal interests." He further stated that the PRP alone could not realize its dream of achieving social justice and hence his party perceived Congress Party as the ultimate force to be relied upon.

Touching upon the topic of his joining the state cabinet, Chiranjeevi said that the point did not come up for discussion during the meeting he had with the Congress Party Chief Sonia Gandhi. Moreover, he said he is not bothered about it as he has no plans to enter the state Cabinet.

PRP chief's meeting with the Congress Party has taken place in the backdrop of Union Defence Minister A K Antony's last week visit to the state capital. Mr.Antony invited the actor-turned-politicians for further talks on the PRP's prospects of entering possible merger with the Congress.

Union Law Minister and party in-charge for Andhra Pradesh affairs, Veerappa Moily, welcomed the merger, and hoped that Chiranjeevi will prove to be a great Congress leader and an asset to the party. What his party liked about the fact is that the PRP chief's vision coincides with that of the Congress.

The crucial merger is being seen as a vital step taken by the Congress to neutralise the affect of former Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy's yet-to-be launched party. The Congress Party has been weary of its legislators switching over to Jagan's camp for quite some time.

Reacting to the news of the merger, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) hit out at the PRP, terming it to collide with the Congress yet another time to upset it in the state politics. It recalled its earlier accusation that the late YSR had used Chranjeevi-led PRP as a pawn to return to power in the 2009 elections has now been proved beyond any doubt, the TDP in a statement said.
