IPS officer swindles 25 crores

Senior IPS officer of Saturday was found with cash and wealth that amounted to Rs 25 crore after the Madhya Pradesh Lokayukta Police have raided his residences. Umesh Gandhi, the DIG for Prisons was the accused who had stashed the valuables at his residences in Sagar and Bhopal.

Inspector Naveen Avasthi, Lokayukta said that they had recovered the wealth worth Rs 25 Crores. He also said that the papers related to the allotted lands have also been recovered. There were FD's which were worth Rs 2 crore and Rs 4 Crore in cash at his residence.

The Lokayukta police added that the properties papers of the DIG's Bhopal, Katli and Sagar residences have been found. "We will investigate everything in detail later," Avasthi said.
