Sangma files petition against the President in SC

P A Sangma, a former Lok Sabha Speaker and presidential candidate who lost to the present President had filed a petition with the Supreme Court against Pranab Mukherjee, alleging that the President had held office of profit while the elections were going on.

His petition is being supported by the BJP and allies like the Chief ministers of Odisha, TamilNadu who were also alleging the variances in the nomination papers filed by Pranab.

However, National Democratic Alliance (NDA) led by the BJP has decided not to press any allegations against the President in the Supreme Court after Mukherjee had had a major vicory with a great margin.

Sangma along with Satya Pal Jain, his lawyer and a former BJP MP, had been pressing the charges and asking the SC to review the elections.
According to the Lok Sabha former speaker, Mukherjee was not a eligible for the elections of the President as he was in a office of profit holding a position in the as the chairman in Indian Statistical Institute while filing nominations to the position.

Additionally he also claims that the resignation letter had a forged signature of Pranab and should not have been accepted initially. Pleading the SC he asked it to consider the elections invalid and declare him the President since there were no other contestants.
