Opposition bashes out at Prime Minister on CAG

The stubborn Opposition had made the UPA and the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh their targets on Tuesday, bashing at him on the reports from the government's own auditor, Comptroller and Auditor General's report on the allocation of coal blocks even after the resignation of the PM was ruled out by the government. The opposition had shouted slogans along with the treasury benches in the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha which led to the adjournment of the sessions in both the houses.

The Prime Minister however, expressed readiness to discuss the issue right at the House but he was not allowed to explain as the MPs demanded nothing lesser than a resignation, not allowing him to speak.

Both the houses had met for the first time after the CAG report was held over to the Parliament. Both the houses were initially adjourned till 12 noon and but then the Lower House was suspended till Wednesday with the MPs who were against the functioning of the house.

V Narayanasamy, MoS PMO, had stated that CAG has no rights to question the government's policies. He made it clear that CAG was to focus on accounting and that their reports were only provisional but not accusations against the government.

The BJP led the opposition shouting slogans and demanding that the Prime Minister should resign from the position. But the government has not yearned to the claims and defended itself asking the BJP to mull over the policies that it had brought into effect when it was in power. The scenario was not much different in the Upper House which remains suspended for the day too.

Congress leader Ambika Soni had pointed out that the BJP should introspect its procedures before they accuse the ruling party on the policies that they adopted when they were in term. BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu.  “PM has a moral responsibility. On the issue of resignation, we leave it to his conscience," CPI leader Gurudas Dasgupta said.
