The United States ambassador to India, Nancy Powell had all praises for Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalitha. She hailed the CM for her “Vision 2023.” Powell has said that the United States would support Tamil Nadu in achieving its targets. She has also said that Jayalalitha has set a target growth of 11 per cent in the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) that puts Tamil Nadu on par with middle income countries in South Asia.

Powell who attended a meeting convened by Indo-American Chamber of Commerce, Powell said Vision 2023 emphasizes on education for all, housing for all and better infrastructure. She has also recalled how Tamil Nadu was when she visited last time and the significant changes that took place in mean time.

Powell has said that she could still see white ambassador cars and green fields but the increase in number of Ford cars and Chevrolet vehicles project the fact that India is completely different now. While hailing Tamil Nadu government,  Nancy Powell has taken on the UPA government over the FDI policy decisions that discouraged American entrepreneurs to invest in India.    (Phani)
