Zero tolerance and 33% reservation to women

President of India Pranab Mukherjee has addressed the joint Parliament for the first time after the recent elections. President Pranab outlined the NDA government's priorities and added that the government will have zero tolerance on violence against women and will bring the 33 percent reservations for women in the Parliament and legislative assemblies.

“Containing inflation, reviving economy are the tough challenges ahead for the government and investments through FDIs will be encouraged. Poverty has no religion, hunger has no creed. The government commits itself to the goal of poverty elimination. Government is determined to rid the country of  corruption and bring back the black money. My government will set up IITs and IIMs in every state. Low-cost airports will be developed to promote air connectivity to smaller towns,” said Pranab.

The President congratulated Election Commission of India the way it held the recent elections. “The people of India have given a clear mandate and voted for a stable government, development.  I congratulate all the newly elected MPs,” added Pranab.
