AI pilots on war path, air travel    disrupted

strike-of-poiletPassengers continued to suffer with the striking 600 pilots of the Air India refusing to come to the negotiating table and continuing their strike for the second day today despite the Delhi High Court asking them to report for duty.

The striking pilots, all belonging to the erstwhile Indian Airlines, have been demanding pay parity with those of the Air India and restoration of recognition to their union. The striking pilots are on a warpath and are even planning to go the Supreme Court to get justice to their demands.

With the strike continuing, the Air India management announced cancellation of 60 of its flights this morning and returned the fare in full. On the day one of the strike, Air India cancelled nearly 50 flights. With the Air India announcing the cancellation of flights for the second day, the private air lines have increased the domestic rates abnormally.

The striking pilots are also demanding the reinstatement of six pilots who were sacked and two other pilots who were suspended.
