Alleging that the ruling party has unleashed violence to spread terror among voters ahead of the polls, Jaya told the election authorities her party candidate for Madathukulam constituency C Shanmugavelu and some AIADMK workers were injured in an attack by the DMK leaders and workers.

“DMK men attacked my party workers and candidate Shanmugavelu at Madathukulam for objecting to cash distribution by the DMK candidate,” she said in a statement. “DMDK functionary Asokan was killed by DMK men at Pennagaram,” she also alleged.

She requested the EC, state Chief Electoral Officer and DGP to depute more number of central paramilitary forces to the state for ensuring fee and fair elections. “Voters must cast their votes without fear and the EC and others should take proper steps for this,” she said.
