Get Glowing and get going… January 31, 2012 15:13
And this means, for the next couple of minutes we would be talking about how to get that glowing skin for us? Here are some simple, yet affective tips… as your Beauty is complete not only with a flawless but also with a glowing skin; Wash your face way before you go to bed. If you wait until you're ready to hit the sack, you'll be too tired to wash up, and research shows skin repairs itself best around 10 p.m. So let skin breathe easy long before you start snoozing. Wear sunscreen every day, year-round. Botox bites. So use a moisturizer that has an SPF 15 or higher. UV rays can do their damage while you're sitting in class, riding in the car or walking the dog. Be nice to your face. Picking, poking and squeezing force bacteria deeper into the skin, resulting in scarring and further breakouts. If you've got major acne, an acne face wash is for you. If you just get spot breakouts, avoid acne washes. They worsen skin by drying out the clear parts and allowing dead skin-cell buildup. The buildup traps oil under skin, leading to more clogged pores and breakouts. So use spot treatments. Wash your face after you do your 'do. Almost all conditioners, hair sprays and mousses contain ingredients that can clog pores. So (carefully) wash your face after using hair products. Bacteria and oil can build up which can lead to clogged pores and breakouts. Use a mild soap (Nature's Gate Organics liquid soaps, $6, drugstores) and cold water to carefully wash out brushes, and rinse thoroughly. Toss cosmetics sponges after a few uses to prevent the spread of bacteria. As you sleep, bacteria and oil collect on your pillowcase and are reintroduced to your skin the following night. So invest in a stack of nice pillowcases, and wash them with a dye- and fragrance-free laundry detergent, like Tide Free. Get your beauty rest! Eight hours should do the trick. Sleep not only keeps undereye circles away but, at night, your body most actively rids itself of toxins that might otherwise wreak havoc with your skin. Z's also reduce stress, the top ache aggravator!
Read MoreTry to know the root cause of ‘Pimples’… January 30, 2012 12:19
The day I see a pimple on my face as soon as I get up, I immediately start with my battle against it… applying all those face packs, creams, covering the pimple up with a foundation, I do what not… once it is reduced, only then I would breath in peace. But, what if I think and try to know the basic reasons of pimples popping up on our face? Our bodies, including our faces, backs and chests, are covered in tiny hair follicles. Each follicle contains a sebaceous gland which produces an oily substance called sebum. At puberty hormones cause the amount of sebum produced by the glands to explode, especially in men. Sebum production tapers off as we get older. Now normally, this sebum comes to the surface of the hair follicle where it coats and protects our hair and skin. But if the pores on the skin surface get blocked, the sebum clogs and builds up, causing blackheads and whiteheads. Bacteria then invades the area, feeding on the sebum and making things worse. Our bodies fight the bacteria with white blood cells which, as they die off, form puss. The puss builds up, swelling the area, and Congratulations, you have a pimple! At this stage the pimple can develop further into cysts and nodules that go deep into the skin and can be quite painful and even lead to scars. That’s kind of the mechanics of how a pimple is formed and you need to understand it to be able to treat and prevent pimples effectively. So what blocks the pores in the first place? It’s not dirt. Don’t listen to people that tell you that poor hygiene is what causes pimples. It’s simply not true. That black you see on blackheads is actually melanin – a natural component of skin. That’s why you can clean your face as much as you want and what you’ll find is that it just aggravates your acne and causes it to get worse. So maybe you should tell them that too much hygiene is more of a problem! The real problem is inside your pores, not on the surface of the skin. The culprit is dead skin cells within the hair follicles. Normally, when individual skin cells die off (a normal natural process) the dead skin cells clear out of the follicle and are shed off of our bodies. But in acne sufferers the dead cells don’t clear out properly. They tend to ”slough off” in sheets instead of as individual dead cells. Sheets become clumps and clumps, unfortunately, don’t clear out of the follicles as easily as single cells. Why the process is different in acne sufferers is not well known. In theory, keratin (a natural protein of the skin) is over-produced in these acne-prone hair follicles and keratin plays a key role in binding the dead cells together in clumps that plug the follicle pores. This keratin over-production is caused by androgen hormone levels and those hormone levels are probably hereditary – it’s in your genes. It seems, Propionibacterium acnes (P. acnes) is fought with topical agents such as benzoyl peroxide and antibiotic chemicals, and with oral antibiotics. Many doctors still assume that what cause acne pimples is bacteria (P. acnes) but in fact it is possible to have pimples develop without the involvement of bacteria. As we’ve seen in the development of a pimple, the bacteria only invades the area after the pore is blocked and the sebum backs up. This is one reason why targeting bacteria by slapping loads of creams and gels on your face is seldom effective and mostly a waste of time unless you have very light acne and can live with blackheads and whiteheads.

Would not at all look good. The trend of clean and clear skin that is absolutely flawless is always in. but that is a different issue, we do not consider achieving the same. Despite of we taking all that basic skin care and also altering our food habits, these dark spots be it black or brown always be a hurdle for our beauty. Chalo then, let us concentrate on getting rid of them. But how? First you need to rule out a tan — if you have been out in the sun a lot in the last few weeks, this might be the cause, particularly if the patches are symmetrical. The reason why there is not a full tan may be that you were wearing sunglasses. This is a common reason for people to develop an uneven tan that can seem like dark patches on both sides of the face. If you have ruled this out, there are still a number of other possibilities, ranging from minor skin conditions and symptoms of minor diseases to symptoms of rather serious disorders. Age spots are one possible problem that is entirely harmless. If this is the case, avoiding exposure to the sun and applying lemon juice daily will help, although results might take a few months. The patches could also be due to a minor fungal infection, so you can try applying vinegar for a few days. If you suffer from type 2 diabetes, another possibility is what is known as insulin spillover. Insulin resistance sometimes results in a spillover into the skin, causing hyper pigmentation. This will of course require treatment of the underlying condition, diabetes, to get rid of the dark patches. Also, you can try the following; Apply sour lemon cream on your face. Do not rinse this mask off completely; gently wipe off with a soft tissue and top it up with a moisturizer. Lemon juice is a tried and tested remedy for treating freckles. Apply lemon juice with your fingers on the affected area; lemon juice bleaches the dark spots. Regular use of fruit and vegetable masks such as those made with apricots, strawberries, cucumbers and red currant will help lighten freckles. Wash your face with sour milk. Lactic acid promotes gentle peeling of skin minus the irritation or dryness. Heat honey slightly and apply to face, tap face gently with your fingers. Wash honey off with warm water then rinse with cool water. Stir in a little quantity of wheat germ into the honey before applying. Apply odorless olive oil or vitamin E at night before going to bed. Also, you can Dissolve some sugar in the juice of one lemon. Apply mixture to each freckle with a brush.

Just like your face and skin, it is so very important to take a good care of your hands as well. most important is our hands should be clean first, in order to reduce the direct intake of germs inside the body with our hands and the other important aspect is how we maintain our hands to be beautiful. And for that; You probably know that dermatologists and other experts recommend wearing sunscreen on your face every day. But you may not have thought about sunscreen on your hands. Hands can develop "liver spots" or age spots, brownish areas that are actually sun damage. Apply sunscreen to your hands as you would moisturize lotion, and it will become second nature to keep your hands protected from the sun. At least three times a day, moisturize your hands. Because of all the things your hands get into - especially soap and water - they tend to dry out quickly, particularly in winter. Rather than putting acrylic nails over unhealthy natural ones, take a look at some of the simple things you can do to improve the health and look of your fingernails. First, file them into a neat oval after trimming. Second, when you moisturize your hands be sure to work some in around each nail. Soap and water can strip your hands of healthful natural oils. Wearing gloves keeps hands out of cleaning chemicals and soap. When gardening, gloves protect your hands from the sun and from injuries such as briar scratches and contact dermatitis from handling weeds. Simply rub one palm over the back of the opposite hand in a circular motion. The massage motion increases circulation, which helps warm up your hands. Soothing for arthritis, a finger massage with a little warm coconut oil is very healthful. Gently pull each finger in a "milking" motion and finish by moving each finger joint gently to the side. This relaxes and loosens the joints and gives your hands better flexibility and circulation. Did you ever think to exfoliate your hands? Gently rub damp hands with salt or sugar, then rinse. The grainy texture of the salt helps scrape away old skin cells, and, once again, it improves circulation. A professional manicure is a real treat, but be sure that the emphasis is on nail health and not covering up weak nails with acrylic ones. Go for a manicure that nourishes your existing nails and pampers your hands. Deficiencies in the B-complex vitamins can cause ridged nail beds, and a lack of calcium can result in brittle, dry nails that chip and flake easily. Be sure to eat foods high in these vitamins or take supplements to improve the look of your nails. The position of your computer monitor, keyboard, and mouse can have a profound effect on your hands. Repetitive motions such as typing and mouse-clicking can result in tired, sore hands or even inflammation such as carpal-tunnel syndrome. Be sure your mouse is comfortable and easily reached, and that your keyboard is positioned at a comfortable level.

Prevention is better than cure and when you are taking care of your beauty, it is better to prevent your skin and hair from the damage well in advance. Let us know the preventive measures for moving away from split ends on your hair; Those wondering about preventing split ends must not underestimate the importance of regular hair trims. It is best to let an experienced salon hair stylist perform a trim every six to eight weeks; it may get a little expensive, but in this case, the expertise of a true professional can be well worth the cost of the service. Even if you’re concerned about the length of your hair, it is important to allow the stylist to cut at least one to two inches off, as splits are commonly found at multiple lower hair shaft points and not only at the visible tips of the damaged hair strands. Chemically based products might be your hair’s worst enemy. Getting a perm, having your hair dyed or even swimming in a chlorinated pool can have terrible effects on the health of your hair and lead to split ends galore. Even worse are daily-use products that contain harsh chemicals. If you’re serious about learning how to prevent split ends, step number one should be taking inventory of all of your hair products and researching their active ingredients to determine whether they contain harsh chemicals. If they do, don’t hesitate to dump them and find a healthier alternative. Want to know how to prevent split ends? For starters, you should consider limiting your use of blow dryers, straight irons, hot curlers or any other heat-styling products. Even the comparatively-gentle summertime climate can be too much for your hair under some circumstances, so be mindful of your time in the sun and consider wearing a hat when outdoors. One exception to the rule, however, comes in the form a revolutionary product that actually enables you to harness the power of heat to your advantage and use it to repair split ends. H2Ion’s proprietary ionic technology uses heat to dissolve moisture infused microbeads deep into the hair shaft and trigger negative ions to smooth and seal damaged hair follicles. H2Ion’s heat-activated healing moisture incidentally cuts drying time in half and seals split ends while you heat-style your hair. For the first time ever, heat-styling your hair can actually prevent split ends.

Putting on a minimal make up has become most common these days. In fact, in many types of professions today, it is must for Woman to put on a minimal make up… all we need to know better is, what type of make-up is best suited to our skin type; Recognize your skin type first; Normal skin -Complexion is even. -The surface of the skin is neither too oily nor too dry. -Lotion-based foundations are recommended. Oily skin -The face will have an allover shine. -The face leaves behind acne and pigmentation marks. -Makeup expert, Clint Fernandes, says, "Women with oily skin should ideally opt for foundations which are water-based or rather should only go in for compacts and a concealer. Since, sunscreen is usually heavy, the base of the makeup should be matte finish to remove the facial tissue of any excess oils. The shade of the foundation should not be either a shade lighter or darker than the skin tone. The trick is to keep it as minimal as possible." Dry skin -The face looks and feels dry and tight. -Cream-based liquid foundations are advisable. -Applying a compact powder on dry skin can make it feel parched. Tone it right Minimal is the mantra these days. Select a few shades that seem close to your natural skin tone. Make sure to sample it in natural light, since stores usually have fluorescent bulbs. Try the color on your jawline, not on your wrists and hands to check the seamless blend. Dusky -It is always safer to opt for a water-based foundation. -A sheer foundation and a good concealer are musts for creating the illusion for a perfect skin. -While applying foundation, your aim should be for a lighter coverage. -Add a drop of water to the foundation to blend well. -Dab compact after the foundation is applied. This will give the skin sheen and will not make it look too heavy. -Avoid applying too much of compact powder. And dust off all the excess. -Make-up artist, Bharat Godambe, says, "Liquid foundation is the best one for women with a dusky complexion. Also, it is very important to keep in mind that the shade of the foundation should be very close to that of the skin tone, to avoid looking white." Wheatish -Choose a concealer and foundation which have yellow pigments. -Earthy shades go very well with wheatish complexion. -Never use a foundation which has a pinkish tone; this will make your skin look grey. -Apply a compact after the foundation to lend a smooth surface to your skin.Fair -Determine whether your fairness is rosy pink or pale gold. -According to the tone, select a shade which is closer to your skin shade. -Select warmer tones for an even complexion.

Well, co – incidence but theme of today could be ‘Break’. We have talked about reasons for taking a break from daily routine… then what about beauty routine? Are we supposed to take a break from our beauty routine as well and adapt the new way of pampering our beauty? Let’s find out; Most often, it’s the pitfalls that bring one's regimen to a screaming halt. Redness, itching, and unusual onset of rashes are all possible symptoms that something is amiss. Your skin might not tolerate a product anymore, or, more likely, your beauty products stopped playing nice with each other. On the other hand, you may be having a serious beauty-product overdose; with so many changes in the skincare, many women are using products that are redundant. If you're ready to break up with your beauty routine — it's temporary, we swear — here's how to save face and take a break. When we see bubbles in our cleanser, we think of clean skin, but it can also mean dry and tight skin. Soap is not your friend. If your face feels so tight after you wash it that you have to layer gobs of moisturizer on it, you are probably stripping your skin and adding to the aging process. Remember, your face is your canvas, massage your cleanser on your skin gently and always in upward strokes. Rinse with tepid water — two parts cold to one part hot — and apply your skin care regimen. Some of us have red splotchy areas on our faces that have no reason to be there. First, consider if one of your products is causing the problem. If not, look for products that contain skin redness reducers. After you apply this redness reducing treatment, then apply your cover-up. There are so many cover-ups available to you — it’s just all about what you like whether it is a stick form, a brush form or a nude base in a pot. Dab your concealer to those red areas and watch them disappear. Here are some tips for your beautiful Skin to appear more ‘Good’; In the morning, a splash of lukewarm water is all you need (we find it's great for removing excess oils from your nightly moisturizing). Never wash your face with hot or cold water (both can cause broken capillaries). Also be careful about overcleansing skin, see signs you are overcleansing your skin. Some people swear by toners, but many beauty experts do not claim, Toners are meant to remove all remaining traces of oil, makeup and dirt, but a good cleanser should do this. I firmly believe it's up to you. If you like the way your skin feels with a toner. Buy it. Use it. Enjoy it. Some beauty experts strongly recommend eye creams. Why? The skin around the eye contains no fatty tissue and is therefore very thin and susceptible to wrinkles. Special eye creams are formulated to "thicken" this area. Yet other experts (including the beauty editors of Allure in their new book) claim your daily lotion works around the eyes just as well. Move ahead for ‘more’ beautiful you!
Read MoreForgot the basics in the process of adapting ‘New’? January 23, 2012 15:47
Not only in the scenario of changing a Profession or adapting anything new, our basic tendency of forgetting the basics in the process of learning ‘New’ is definitely applicable to our beauty as well… Let’s do this, apply this logic to our hair care basics and test ourselves; Diet: A well-balanced diet, rich in silica, calcium and iron, will help reduce or prevent hair loss. Green, leafy vegetables, especially sea vegetables, are good mineral sources. Raw oats provide silica. Eat plenty of iron-rich foods, like liver (Avoid if you are pregnant) and other organ meat, whole grain cereals, dark green leafy vegetables, eggs, dates, and raisins. The hair is comprised mostly of protein, therefore to encourage hair growth, adhere to a diet rich in protein. A recommended diet for this purpose includes calves liver, brewer's yeast, wheat germ, and two tablespoons of granulated lecithin. Along with protein, these foods are also high in B vitamins, an important nutrient for hair. Silica is found in the outer coverings of potatoes, green and red peppers and cucumbers. Bean sprouts are also high in silica. Eat whole foods including sprouts. Washing Routine: Your hair-type will determine your cleansing routine, some of you may need to shampoo daily, others every other day, others even once a week. The water you use to wash your hair should neither be too hot, or too cold. Use your fingertips, and never your nails, to gently scrub your scalp. Be sure to rinse your hair thoroughly in order to get all of the soap out and then maximize the shine. Combing: To begin with combing, first separate hair into small sections. Untangle your hair with a wide-tooth comb, carefully work from the ends in a downward direction only. Use only a wooden or tortoise shell comb – never rubber. Do not pull or yank hair. Brush hair only when dry. Hair is weakest when it is wet and brushing can easily damage it. Even when hair is dry always comb before brushing. Drying: Air-dry whenever possible. Try to minimize the use of blow dryer as the strong heat tends to damage the hair, also the moisture lost makes them look rough and lifeless. Give your hair a break from that blow dryer, those curling irons and so many perms. When you are kind to your hair, it rewards you by looking and feeling better. Choose a hairstyle that will let your hair fall naturally. Trimming: Get your hair trimmed on a regular basis (approximately every two months). This is especially important for growing out layers and/or bangs to reshape and make each stage of growing hair out a style. Shampoo & Conditioning: Choose simple, cheap shampoos that promise only to wash away the dirty and the oil. The more complicated the formula is and the more expensive the shampoo the less it does good in your hair. Conditioners, are an invention of the cosmetic industry and if your hair is dried out and dull looking you have been abusing it. Use a milder shampoo and try washing your hair less frequently. Also, always apply conditioner from the ears down – never condition the scalp. Do not over-condition for it might cause the cuticle layer of hair to lift making hair brittle and leading to breakage. Some of today's new line of shampoos has a special ingredient advertised as a hair thickener as well as a shampoo that will make your hair look thicker. These shampoos actually coat each strand of hair with a layer of protein each time you use it thus making the hair appear thicker. These shampoos are really very good and can have quite a beneficial effect on most women. Styling: Your hair style is a reflection of your personality and a wonderful way to express your individuality. All too often conventional styling products contain alcohol or other harsh chemicals. These ingredients are used to keep the hair in place and to give the appearance of shiny healthy hair. In the case of these mass-marketed products the look achieved is only surface deep and they tend to damage the hair. Choose styling products which will make your hair look great, and impart essential botanicals and vitamins to each strand. Sleep Pattern: Comb your hair before going to bed, do not let the bands or clips on. Even the way you sleep can affect your hair. Restless sleepers may actually be breaking hair as they sleep. If you’re a restless sleeper, try a satin pillowcase so that the hair glides when you move in your sleep. On regular cotton cases hair can get caught and break. Putting hair up to sleep is also helpful. Hair should be put in a ponytail on top of the head. Always use rubber bands that are wrapped in cloth. Now, it is up to you to analyze if you are following all these basic hair care routines, before worrying more about your hair loss and getting dry…

Though we are nearing February, look like winter is in so love with us and does not seem to be leaving us at least for some more time. We have no other option but to take good care of your body, to enjoy this season as well. And for that; Massage your body with coconut oil half-an-hour before a bath. This will soften the skin and make it glow also. Moisturize your skin twice a day. In the morning with a light moisturizer and in the night a rich one. Massage in upwards and outward directions. Exfoliate once a week. A gentle exfoliator scrubs off the dead cells giving the skin a polished look. Home-made Recipe for Exfoliation Ingredients: 1/2 cup Bran 1/2 cup Lemon peel powder 4 tspNeem powder 4 tblsp crushed fresh rose petals 2 tsp Sandalwood powder Milk to make a smooth paste Directions: Mix all the ingredients and apply on the face. This will not only give a flawless skin but also leave you smelling good. Keep up your water intake - Most people tend to drink less water as the temperature drops. Try to drink room temperature water – it is better for your digestion too! Exfoliate! - I cannot say enough about what an important step this is. Develop a ritual of using a body scrub once a week (it takes less than 3 minutes to exfoliate your body). This will help remove dry, flaky skin and reveal your radiant, smooth, touchable skin. Plus, your moisturizer will do its job better. Moisturize skin while wet - After your bath or shower, massage on body oil, then gently pat your skin dry with a soft towel. The water helps the natural plant oils sink in and hydrate your skin. Keep shower and bath water not too Hot! - The hotter your water, the drier your skin! Avoid harsh chemicals - use natural products - Many people may become sensitive to the man-made chemicals, causing dry, itchy skin, that are in many body care products. Using natural ingredients and organic whenever available, feels so much better and it is better for the earth. Just be sure to read ingredients because I know some people can be allergic to some natural ingredients as well (such as nuts). Moisturize hands and feet every night - Your hands and feet are deserving of great care. Because we rely on them for so much they should always be taken care of year-round, but especially in the colder months. Massage your body oil (you just need a little) on them every night before going to sleep and I bet you will have sweeter dreams too. When you cannot avoid anything, just enjoy living with the same!

Beauty is all about adding more and more life to your natural looks. But the same is next to impossible if you are surviving with Dead skin on your face. You can neither just like that get rid of it. You need to have a clear skin by getting rid of all the skin impurities. What more is required if you manage to find the Natural way of getting rid of this Dead Skin and gaining back your natural glow? Here are few tips that can help you; Wash your face way before you go to bed. If you wait until you're ready to hit the sack, you'll be too tired to wash up, and research shows skin repairs itself best around 10 p.m. So let skin breathe easy long before you start snoozing. Wear sunscreen every day, year-round. Botox bites. So use a moisturizer that has an SPF 15 or higher (try Eucerin Skin Renewal SPF 15 Day Lotion, $10, drugstores). UV rays can do their damage while you're sitting in class, riding in the car or walking the dog. Be nice to your face. Picking, poking and squeezing force bacteria deeper into the skin, resulting in scarring and further breakouts. Stop thinking that if your skin feels tight it must be clean. Tight skin isn't clean skin--its dry skin. If you're rushing to dab on moisturizer after you wash, time to find a cleanser that won't leave you high and dry. Normal and combination skin will benefit most from a gel formula (we love Nivea Visage Refreshing Cleansing Gel, $6, drugstores). Got dry or sensitive skin? Go for a creamy cleanser. Either way, choose a low foaming formula. More lather=more drying. Less lather=less drying. Banish breakouts. If you've got major acne, an acne face wash is for you (we like Clearasil Total Control 5-in-1 Acne Cleanser and Moisturizer, $9, drugstores). If you just get spot breakouts, avoid acne washes. They worsen skin by drying out the clear parts and allowing dead skin-cell buildup. You can help reduce the occurrence of blackheads by eating the right kinds of foods -- this will reduce sebum production, increase good moisture in the skin and help the production of new skin cells. Avoid cooked carbohydrates and fats, replace these with fresh fruits, vegetables and raw fats (avocadoes, olives, olive oil etc). Read our article of the scientific link between diet and acne for more information. If you do wear makeup, make sure any foundations and concealers are non-comedogenic and oil free so they won't block pores. Try not to apply make up if your face is sweating. Always remove your make up with a cleanser at the end of the day. Keep your entire make up brushes and sponges clean. Wash them in mild shampoo once a month and let dry completely before using.
