The story:

The story of the movie ‘Baava’ centers around a village go-getter Veerababu played by Siddhartha branded siddarth, baava movie reviewas a chocolate lover boy. Siddhartha however presents himself in this movie in a different get up and speaks in the native Godavari accent.

The story shows the love generating from this go getter towards Vara Lakshmi, a girl of the neighboring village played by Praneetha. He starts loving the girl the moment she was spotted and tries to impress her with his love.

His love was not accepted in the first instance by the girl who helps the story running for some time till she comes to know that this boy was her childhood friend and both of them hailed from the same family. The realization that Vara Lakshmi is the daughter of his maternal uncle (brother of his mother) strengthens the resolve of the hero to love her more and marry her.  Of course, Vara Lakshmi also accepts his love.

The two way love flourishes with some excellent scenes and flows beautifully in a total village backdrop but the problem comes when the heroine’s father wants her daughter to marry the son of a head of a neighboring village.

The lovers get married somehow but the marriage was rejected by the hero’s father played exceedingly well by ace comedian Rajendra Prasad. The second half of the movie shows Rajendra Prasad revealing the past in a flash back narrating to his son why there was a dispute between his wife and her brother resulting in a cut-off in relations.

Though the movie ‘Baava’ is not a remake of the 2009 Hindi block buster ‘Love Aj Kal’, the second half of this movie has a similar feature applied in the Hindi movie’s first half. The creative technique shows Rajendra Prasad imaging himself as young Siddhartha through his narration.

Performances:

Siddhartha excels in his performance as a rural guy and shines with his accent. Rajendra Prasad, Ahuthi Prasad, Tannikella Bharani, Praneetha, Raghu Babu, Nassar and others also come out with good performances. The spoof on Varudu by Brahmanandam and Ali is extremely funny and hilarious.
