Assault case against producer Kalyan

The Raidurgam police have booked a case against the leading Tollywood producer C. Kalyan and a close Kalyan, Rayadurgam police, assault casefriend of Kiran Bhanu, the alleged killer of faction leader Maddelacheruvu Suri, for assaulting a person on December 30, just two days before Suri was shot dead in city.

Kalyan and three of his followers were arrested by police on January 4 under IPC section 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means) for assaulting people but they got bail. The punishment for the offence could be up to three years in prison, if the case is proved.  

Police said that one Mr T Kailash Singh reportedly demolished part of a compound wall constructed on the four plots of Kalyan at Chitrapuri colony of AP cine workers in Manikonda in Hyderabad. On knowing the information, Kalyan rushed to the spot with his men and bashed up the Kailash Singh and others. One of the associates of Kailash Singh suffered bleeding injuries to his left eye in the assault forcing them to lodge a police complaint.

Kalyan close to Bhanu Kiran

Kalyan, who reportedly began his life as an office boy in the Telugu film industry, is now a leading producer and also heading the South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce at the moment.

When he began producing high budget movies with leading heroes of the Tollywood, the industry began wondering on how he was managing his finances. Pawan Kalyan-starrer ‘Puli’ and Mahesh Babu’s ‘Mahesh Khaleja’, both big budget films were produced by Kalyan along with Singanamala Ramesh last year. Kalyan also bought the distribution rights of Ram Gopal Varma’s ‘Rakta Charitra’.

Kalyan is also the producer of another big budget movie ‘Parama Veera Chakra’ starring Balakrishna and directed by Darsakaratna Dasari Narayanana rao. Kalyan was also reportedly very close to the slain faction leader Suri.
After the killing of Suri, when police said they were suspecting the hand of Bhanu Kiran, Kalyan told journalists in a media interaction that Bhanu could not have committed such a crime and defended him showing how close he was to the suspected murderer who was on the run.
