History to be, at London Olympics 2012

Take care there are select athletes who are going to make the difference. Of course the entire 10,500 or more athletes from 205 countries participating in more than 302 events are sure to make their dreams come true. While every athlete initially dreams to be the part of the Olympic Contingent of his/her country. After being there it is winning bells that keep ringing in their minds. The 17 day sports extravaganza, London Olympics 2012, begins today. The ritual shall commence with a bang of a 27-ton bell, the largest harmonically tuned bell in the world, forged at London's 442-year-old Whitechapel Bell Foundry, which made London's Big Ben and Philadelphia's Liberty Bell. London Olympics 2012 is officially known as The Games f the XXX Olympiad.

Among the many participating teams, the following prominent event-record breakers need to be watched. So do not miss out on being a part of the history.

The American swimmer MICHAEL PHELPS needs only two medals to equal the record of 18 held by Soviet gymnast Larisa Latynina, Phelps will have plenty of chances. He is a contender in seven events in London.

Despite being the most successful soccer team in World Cup history with five titles, Brazil have never won Olympic gold.

If Jamiacan USAIN BOLT  can overcome in-form fellow Jamaican Yohan Blake, he will become the first man to achieve the 100m and 200m Olympic sprint double twice. Carl Lewis is the only man to defend the 100m title.

South Africa's OSCAR PISTORIUS, (blade runner) is set to be the first double amputee athlete to compete at the Olympics after being selected for the 4x400m relay.

For the first time in Olympic history, every country represented at the Games will include female athletes. The major landmark in, equality for women was achieved due to the magnanimous decision taken by Saudi Arabia to send two women to compete. They are  Wodjan Ali Seraj Abdulrahim Shahrkhani in judo and 800m runner Sarah Attar. Qatar and Brunei have also followed the trait and send women athletes to the Olympics for the first time.
