Brits spend 40,000 pounds over dustbin quarrels

Crazy disputes, crazier legal cases and craziest judgments. That seems to be the order of the day and two Brits, neighbors at that,  have entered this list after they shelled 40,000 pounds for a never heard of case before.

All they fought over was a moveable garbage bin in the drive. Liaquat Ali was asked by Iqbal Suleman that his moveable dustbin was in the drive obstructing the path of his van. Probably, growing horns over his ego, Ali refused to move his bin forcing Suleman to take the legal route.

Ali who said that he moved the bin to the farthest part of the alleyway claimed that any van could pass the alley. He was shocked to see that he received a legal notice that asked him to attend the court.

He then installed cameras in the alleyway to monitor the bin and Suleman. Total cost of his lawyers and cameras he installed had shot up in the sky to a whopping 36,370 pounds. The lawyers also filed a 40 page evidence.

Suleman was well prepared too with 300 pages of photos, statements from witnesses and defended himself which cost him 2,000 pounds.

What might be a joke on both of them would be the result of the case. The judge pronounced that none of them could use the alleyway to put their bin. This also sparked off a new dispute over who should pay the bill of the lawyers.

We wonder what the judge was thinking when he first heard the case. Also, let me quote my favorite commercial: “Legal Battles over dustbins, 40,000 pounds. Pride, Priceless. There are somethings money can't buy. For everything else there is MasterCard”.
