Jayalalithaa released

AIADMK chief and former chief minister of Tamil Nadu Jayalalithaa was released from Bangalore jail this afternoon who was convicted in 1996 disproportionate assets case. A huge convoy escorted Jaya from the Bangalore jail and she will take a private flight to Chennai where AIADMK supporters have arranged a grand welcome to her.

A trail court on September 27th convicted Jaya and her aides to the disproportionate assets case. She has been sentenced for four years and was slapped with 100 crores fine. The case related to period from 1991 to 1996 involving Rs 66.65 crores when she became chief minister for the first time.
