Tamil film industry stepped in support of Tamil Nadu ex-cm Jayalalithaa and called for a complete shut down on Tuesday.  All the bodies of the film industry will participate in the 'silent fast' proposed in support of her near the state Guest House at Chepauk from 9 am to 6 pm.

The shooting activities in and around Chennai will be suspended and there will not be any shows in cinema theatres till 6 pm. Jayalalithaa, an actor-turned politician, has been convicted in the Rs 66.65 crore disproportionate assets case by a Bangalore special court on September 27 and sentenced to four years in jail besides a fine of Rs 100 crore.
