Hyderabad Metro: Fastest To Achieve Operational Breakeven:- Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) is the fastest metro to achieve operational breakeven in a short span. Hyderabad Metro reached breakeven in just two years which is a rare achievement. Hyderabad Metro is now earning at Rs 40 crores per month which includes Rs 30 crores of ticketing revenue. The rest of the revenue is generated through commercials and property development confirmed NVS Reddy, the Managing Director of Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited. Most of the metros in the country which are launched prior to Hyderabad Metro are yet to reach breakeven.

It takes seven to eight years for a metro to reach breakeven but Hyderabad Metro is racing at jet speed said NVS Reddy. Hyderabad Metro has 1000 trips daily covering 18,000kms. Over 16 crore passengers traveled in Hyderabad Metro in the past two years. A total of 86 lakh kms distanced was covered by the trains in the past two years. A record number of 14 lakh smart cards are sold to commuters after Hyderabad Metro started operating. A total number of 55 trains are operated in the city and two more trains will be introduced to serve the commuters of Hyderabad Metro.
