50 years bond with Newspaper

Ponnada Hanumantha Rao is a small time advocate from Konaseema. Aged 74, this ardent follower of Nehru has preserved two copied of The Hindu newspaper with him for the past five decades. When asked what is so special about the newspaper, ‘Jawaharlal Nehru Dead’ was the banner headline which is dated May 28, 1964.

Well not only about the banner headline, the newspaper gave a detailed coverage of the life and works of the late Prime Minister Nehru. Apart from this, the newspaper also brought out a special edition during the formation of Andhra Pradesh State in 1954, both the special editions are still with me, says Hanumantha Rao with pride.

Continuing his affection, Mr Rao named his house after Gandhi and his residence is labeled as Gandhi House on Razole main road .  “I have a special place for The Hindu and Andhra Patrika in my library. My association with The Hindu continues and I preserve all special editions of the newspaper,” added Mr Rao.
