AP High Court's Directions

AP High Court yesterday disposed a PIL by Brahmin Community objecting for the scenes in 'Denikaina Ready' produced by veteran actor and producer Mohan Babu and demanding stoppage of its exhibition.

The observations made by the High Court in the above case are eye openers for the producers of the movies and also to those people who object for everything in the name of a region or a community.  If any objections are found, the Court said, they should be brought to the notice of the law but should not resort to violence or any such disturbances in the society.

The producer of the film is directed to delete the objected scenes alright but the High Court also opined that a scene or two in a movie should not be seen separately but should be seen as part of the whole story and in terms of the main theme.  It is not right to protest with a small pretext and make a scene in public.

The scenes although belated will be deleted from the movie as per the directions of the Court but what about the scenes created practically by the protesting Brahmin community?  Can they be deleted now?  The plight of Kamala Hasan for the objections raised for his latest movie ‘Viswaroopam’ is still not forgotten.  At last the movie was released after the hype turned cold and as a result Kamala Hasan sustained heavy losses.   Many instances are there where a movie shooting was disrupted only because the starts and producers of the movie belong to other regions.

The High Court also suggested the film producers that they should take proper care not to hurt the feelings of any section of the society.  The films can be made entertaining but should not make fun of any sections that may make them get hurt.

The decision of the Court should make the producers of the film to think before making satirical comments on any particular caste, religion, region, a movie star, a political personality or a profession.

The decision of the High Court of AP is well balanced and an eye opener to all concerned.
