APSRTC to run 6,795 special bus services for Sankranthi:- In preparation for the Sankranti festival, the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) has introduced 6,795 special bus services from various depots across the State. These buses will transport passengers to different destinations in the State, as well as neighbouring Telangana, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu, from January 6 to 18.

Ch Dwaraka Tirumala Rao, the managing director and vice chairman of APSRTC, stated that the special buses will operate at regular fares, benefitting the general public. He mentioned that APSRTC has decided not to impose any additional charges for these special services, which was also implemented last year and was well-received by passengers.

Specifically, 1,600 buses will be available for travel to Hyderabad, 40 to Chennai, 250 to Bengaluru, 300 to Vijayawada, 290 to Visakhapatnam, 230 to Rajahmundry, 70 to Tirupati, and 790 buses to other locations. To ensure smooth operations and assist passengers at different depots, nodal officers in the form of depot managers, senior officers, and traffic managers will be assigned in Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, and other depots. Their responsibilities will include monitoring the special buses and coordinating with passengers.

The special buses now offer a reservation option for passengers. To secure their tickets ahead of time, passengers have the choice of booking through the website www.apsrtconline.in, booking agents, or the APSRTC mobile app. Moreover, passengers who book round-trip tickets will receive a 10 percent discount on the bus base fare. Additionally, a call centre (0866-2570005) will be available 24/7 to provide information about the special services. Furthermore, all festival special buses will be equipped with GPS tracking systems.
