YS Jagan Announces Change In Three Capital Plan

YS Jagan Announces Change In Three Capital Plan:- After the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, the newly formed state had Amaravati as the capital. Soon after YSRCP took charge in the state, Amaravati was ignored and three capital plan was announced. After facing so many hurdles legally and politically, YS Jaganmohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh announced the change of plans and he said that AP will have only one capital. He said that Andhra Pradesh will have Amaravati as the capital. S Sriram, the Advocate General informed the High Court about the decision of Chief Minister during the hearing about the capital of the state.

After the announcement, the state cabinet of Andhra Pradesh decided to withdraw the Three Capitals Bill that was introduced. AP Government in the past announced three capitals: Amaravati (Legislative Capital), Visakhapatnam (Executive Capital) and Kurnool (Judicial Capital). The opposition parties mounted pressure on the Centre after the Union Home Ministry clarified that the decision on the state capital has to be taken by the government of Andhra Pradesh and the Centre has nothing to do with it. Several cases are filed in the AP High Court against the Three Capitals and the arguments are going on. The Union government also formed a Comittee to find out the facts and the panel submitted the report on August 30th.

The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet now announced that they have cancelled their plan for three capitals in the state. The entire state is now eagerly waiting for the new move of the AP government on the capital of the state.
