Coronavirus Outbreak: One-Third Of India Is In Red Zone:- The Centre already identified and announced 170 districts across the country as hotspots and the people across these regions are asked to stay strictly at their homes. As per the latest news, 37% of the Indian population is now in the red zone which clearly indicates that the situations in the country are alarming. Tamil Nadu is leading the list with the most number of red zones with 22 districts out of the 37 in the state. All the 170 districts where the coronavirus infections are high have been declared as red zones. 23% of the districts (730 districts in total) are spread with coronavirus currently and it is spread across 29% off the geographical region of the country. This is taken as per the Census 2011 information.

Around 453 million population out of the 1.2 billion people are living in the hot spot regions. Stringent curbs are imposed across these regions and the outward movement is completely restricted. 10 out of the 11 Delhi districts are in the list. Maharashtra is leading the list with a maximum number of coronavirus cases in the country and it has 14 out of the 36 districts in the list. Cities like Mumbai, Delhi and Hyderabad are badly impacted due to coronavirus and the positive cases are increasing on a regular basis. 11 of 13 districts of Andhra Pradesh are announced as hotspots which comprise of 92% of the state's geographical region.

All the red zones will be considered as green zones only after no new cases get registered in these regions after 28 days. The government defines hot spot districts as “high caseload districts”.
