Jayalalithaa Death Probe Starts: An investigation relating to the death of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa has started.

The retired Madras High Court judge Justice A Arumugasamy is presently at the Poes Garden residence. Jayalalithaa before her death in 2016, lived at this residence.

Following Chief Minister E Palanisamy’s announcement in this regard, justice (Retired) Arumugasamy was appointed to head the probe into the death of Jayalalithaa, in September. An inquiry commission was set up in September, to investigate Jayalalithaa’s death. In a matter of three months, the report is to be submitted. On 17th August, Palaniswamy announced about the probe, as it was one of the two conditions placed by team OPS for the merger of AIADMK factions. On September 25, the State’s order was issued.

Arumugasamy had formally announced on Friday that anyone who wishes to provide information regarding the death of Jayalalithaa can do so either directly or through mail by November 22nd.

All ministers of the state had lied to the people about hospitalization and death of the former AIADMK general secretary, revealed Tamil Nadu’s Minister for Forests Dindigul Sreenivasan, and after this only this decision of the Tamil Nadu government comes in. Mr. Sreenivasan said that only former confidant V K Sasikala and her family had access to see ailing Jayalalithaa.

Earlier, allegations were made by Team OPS' PH Pandian and Manoj K Pandian that Jayalalithaa was pushed down the stairs and which was why she was admitted to Apollo. However, the claims were rubbished by the Apollo hospital’s discharge summary, according to which, Jayalalithaa had no physical injury when she was brought in.

Major crisis developed over the ownership of the property, after Sasikala went to prison and Aarumugasamy’s visit to Poes Garden is considered significant.
