Stamp Paper Scam Pin Abdul Karim Telgi Dies In Bengaluru:- Abdul Karim Telgi, a.k.a Kareem Lala (56) passed away at Victoria Hospital on Thursday evening. Telgi, as kingpin of the multi crore fake stamp paper racket, rocked the economy of several states.

Before he fell unconscious on Sunday, Telgi was nauseous and had vomited after which he was brought to the hospital. There were reports earlier that he had been afflicted with AIDS. On Monday evening, Telgi suffered multiple organ failure and since then was in coma and succumbed on Thursday.

Besides other ailments, for over 20 years, Telgi has been suffering from diabetes and hypertension. In connection with the multi-crore fake stamp paper racket, Telgi had been arrested in 2001, and sentenced to 30 years imprisonment. A whopping amount of Rs 202 crore as fine was also imposed on him.

While, some cases against the stamp paper scam pin are still pending. Telgi was lodged at the Central Jail at Parapana Agrahara in Bengaluru. Originally hailing from Khanapur in Belagavi, Telgi is facing cases in Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Goa and other states.

Recently, Telgi was in the news when former DIG (Prisons) D Roopa alleged that prison authorities were giving him preferential treatment in the prison.
