Jayalalithaa in Hospital; Tamil Nadu put on High Alert

As soon as the news got spread about Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa getting the cardiac arrest, thousands of supports gathered at the hospital. As chaos started at the hospital, DGP ordered for heavy police deployment on Greams Road.

Tamil Nadu DGP has ordered all police officers and personnel to beef up the security and report to the duty by 7AM.

Tamil Nadu School Education Minister K.Pandiarajan clarified that “there will be no holiday in educational institutions in the state today.”

Police have also arranged for an anti-riot police team consisting of 100 members.

The Director General of Police ordered  ADGPs of Enforcement, CB-CID, Economic Offences Wing and Crime wing to gather officers of all ranks i.e from SPs till police personnel.

"Enforcement, CBCID, EOW and Crime completely and they should report to SPs and Commissioners of Police at 7 AM. They should report in full uniform with their vehicles for law and order bandobast duty until further orders," it said.

All the buses traveling out of Chennai were reduced. The state has eventually been put on high alert.

Chief Operating Officer of Apollo Hospital Dr. Subbaiah Viswanathan said: "Jayalalithaa suffered a cardiac arrest yesterday evening and she is being treated and monitored by a team of experts and critical care specialists."

Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu School Education Minister K.Pandiarajan clarified that there will be no holiday in educational institutions in the state today.
