Ganesh Chaturthi festival is starting on September 5. A sweet maker has offered 500-kg laddu to Khairatabad Ganesh idol in Hyderabad.
In 2010, Sweet maker Suruchi Foods from Tapeswaram in East Godavari had started to offer laddu to Khairatabad Ganesh. He offered a 500 Kg laddu to the idol and kept up the practice. Last year, he offered 6,000 kg laddu.
However the Khairatabad Ganesh Utsav Committee asked the sweet maker to limit the laddu to 500 kg this year. They said that there will be problem in distributing such a large laddu to devotees if it is more than 500 kg.
The laddu will be put on display from day one for 11 days. It will be distributed once the Ganesh idol is immersed in the Hussainsagar Lake. Last year the Utsav Committee faced a tough time to distribute the laddu.
The laddu will be prepared from Sunday onwards by eleven men wearing 'Ganesh Mala'
Suruchi Foods proprietor Polisetti Mallibabu said, “We have been offering laddu to the Ganesh idol at Khairatabad for six years and every year, the size would increase. This time, on a request from the committee, we are offering a laddu weighing 500 kg.”
