Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) to prepare best designs for remodelling Vizag into a Smart City by involving the public. In this aspect, GVMC launched a design contest ‘Make Your City Smart Vizag’ in Vishakhapatnam on Friday.
Addressing a press conference, Municipal Commissioner Praveen Kumar said that “all interested citizens, including students, architects, planners, technical experts, professionals and others, could participate in the contest and the Special Jury will announce the winners after examining the best entries.”
“The contest has two parts-Beach Road design and Vuda Park design. While the first prize for the Beach Road design contest is Rs 1.25 lakh, second prize Rs 75,000 and the third prize Rs 50,000, first prize for the Vuda Park design contest is Rs 75,000, second prize Rs 50,000 and third prize Rs 25,000.”
Praveen Kumar urged all the people to participate in the contest. He said that for any other details they can log on to the website: www.mygov.in. The last date for uploading the designs is August 5.
He also disclosed that Smart Pulse Survey (SPS) is a survey of all households. It is aimed at securing data directly in digital form with online validations. He added that the first phase of the survey will begin on Friday. The survey will last until July 30 and the second phase will start from August 6 to 15. Nearly 5.3 lakh households are expected to be surveyed.
He said that the SPS, will ensure that the data is correctly fed with the help of Aadhaar. This will also help to remove duplicate records, details of those expired and create a set of records in the form of AP State Socio-Economic Data Base (APSEDB).
