Now, BJP cornered in Bauxite mining issue

Regarding bauxite mining issue, BJP leaders belonging to various Vizag Agency mandals asked the state leaders to exert pressure on the Central government.

For the past few days, the state government is facing the severe criticism from the oppositions, and the tribal people, about the bauxite mining case. Even Janasena Chief Pawan Kalyan said that, he pleaded to rethink upon G.O of Bauxite mining, as it would affect the tribal lives.

Referring that, minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao said that, the Bauxite mining G.O would be reconsidered and the official update of it, would be out, in a cabinet meeting, to be held on November 16th.

Meanwhile, the BJP leaders belonging to various Vizag Agency mandals, demanded to cancel the stage II clearances given by MoEF otherwise, they warned to quit the party.

Regarding this, they even wrote letters to Kambhampati Haribabu, Vizag MP and also party state president, and other state BJP leaders, asking them to exert pressure on the Centre.

Talking about this, BJP Paderu division leader, Kurasala U. Maheswar Rao said, “How can we sit quiet when everyone in the Agency, irrespective of party and groups are united against proposed bauxite mining, which threatens our livelihood. Our state leaders should understand this and mount pressure on the Centre to cancel the MoEF’s stage II clearances given for bauxite mining. If they fail to do so we are all ready to quit the party. We don’t have another option.”

Another BJP leader said that, the TDP leaders were blaming BJP for the current fiasco by spreading the message that, based on the Centre’s clearances the state government had issued the G.O. diverting forest land for mining. BJP and affiliated organizations like Yuva Morcha have committees in all the 11 Agency mandals.

Social activist and former minister P. Balaraju, Congress leader Bolisetty Satyanarayana, demanded the immediate cancellation of the G.O., in favor of  APMDC to take up bauxite mining.

Speaking on this, they said that, it was sheer subversion of the constitution by the state government, which issued GO MS No. 97 clearing 1,212 hectares of forest land to APMDC and trying to give tribal lands to Anrak and other corporate companies.

Finally, as on Monday, through the cabinet meeting, the officials assured to announce the update on GO. So it should be seen, how far that influence the people in the Vizag agency area.
