TDP MLA attacks woman, APRSA demands arrest

The attack on Musunuru Tahsildar Vanajakshi by Denduluru MLA Chintamaneni Prabhakar and his supporters is seriously condemned by the APRSA (Andhra Pradesh Revenue Services Association) district unit members.

Vanajakshi, who had come to know about some illegal sand mining at Tammileru stream in the village, rushed to the place and tried to stop the activity. In this process, Denduluru MLA Chintamaneni Prabhakar allegedly abused and caught hold of Vanajakshi’s neck and pushed away from the place.

Why is the sand mining illegal in that place?

The stream actually divides Krishna and West Godavari districts. According to the revenue officials, sand mining is permitted only on the Denduluru side in West Godavari, while mining from Krishna end is not allowed. Even then, the women workers allegedly entered into the Krishna territory and started mining sand, which is illegal.

Protests of APRSA

The APRSA leaders said that, “it was an attack on a government official and that too a woman, so there is no question of leaving the incident, unless the government comes down and gives an explanation.”

APRSA State vice-president K. Anil Jennyson warned, saying that, if the government fails to take proper action, we will approach the Human Rights Commission and also the court."

As per the reports, Vanajakshi filed a case against MLA Prabhakar and his followers under IPC sections 353, 332 and 379 read with 34 and the APRSA are demanding the arrest of them immediately.

Andhrawishesh view

However big the position is, attacking the women is always a serious misconduct of the concerned person. Moreover, as a public representative, it is seriously objectionable.
