Clarity on Governor Special Powers

The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has given a clarity on the 'Special Powers' that were alloted to joint Governor of Andhra and Telangana states. Governor Narasimhan who was in Delhi for the past two days, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and officials of Home Ministry. In this issues, the Home Affairs ministry said to the Governor that he can utilize the special powers only under given circumstances if the Law and Order goes out of hands. The Governor can use this powers as per the section 8 of Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Bill 2013. The Ministry also said that it won't take back the instructions that were sent to Telangana government.

Narasimhan also met PM Modi for about 45 minutes and he briefed about the two Telugu speaking Chief Ministers discussions of solving the internal issues. Modi said to the Governor that the Union government will not involve in the state affairs and Hyderabad issue. With Home Ministry and PM Modi clarifying on special powers, it is clear that Governor will have to wait for his right time.

However, Ministry of Home Affairs has instructed Governor to review the situations constantly and estimate them accordingly.
