Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has tendered his resignation to President Pranab Mukherjee short while ago. Manmohan held the last cabinet meeting before meeting the President and the Union cabinet gave a resolution for the dissolving the 15th Lok Sabha.

After the cabinet meeting, Manmohan headed to Rashtrapathi Bhavan and offered his resignation to President. He was asked to continue as the caretaker Prime Minister by Pranab till his successor is announced.

Manmohan addressed the nation before the cabinet meeting. He congratulated Narendra Modi and wished his government best of luck. “My life and tenure is an open book and it is an honor to serve this great nation,” added the 14th Prime Minister.
