Bihar CM demands Special Status

Bihar Cheif Minister Nitish Kumar has demanded the Central Government to grant Special Status to the State. Nitish made this statement in the view of bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh where in the rest of AP was given Special Status for five years. He accused the government for being biased and slammed it for not bothering about the backward states despite making several pleas and attempts. Nitish called for a complete shut down on March 1st in protest and asked all the political parties in Bihar to fight for the Special Status.

Meanwhile, the Bihar BJP is also getting ready for the agitations and called for a Rail-Rokho on 28th February. Former deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi has said, “the union government did not consider our request even once. The Raghuram Rajan Committee has recommended Special Status to Bihar state, but the Center is no mood to take up the issue.”

Welling being a Chief Minister, Nitish calling for bandh is something should be taken into account. Anyways how government will tackle this, we have to wait and see.
