Indian Embassy gets hate mails

The Indian Embassy in Italy received over 100 hate mails, threats and a parcel having live bullet in retaliation to the unsolved issue of two Italian marines accused of killing Indian fisherman. The Indian government requested the Italian government to provide more security at Embassy and also to take precautionary action against the culprits who have send the threatening mails.

The Italian government is not happy with the slow pace of trial of its two marines charged with killing two fishermen in February 2012. The Italian marines allegedly shot dead two fishermen off the Kerala coast and ever since the two countries have been quarrelling over this issue.

The External Affairs Ministry has taken the threatening mails seriously and have sensitized the diplomats in Italy. The ministry has ordered the diplomats and other staff not to leave outside with proper security and safety measures.
