Petition Against Bifurcation Adjourned

Various petitions came before the Supreme Court against Government's decision to bifurcate the State of Andhra Pradesh.

After adjourning the case, Justice Dutt said that it is not possible now to take up the hearing at the present stage as the Government has not introduced the Bill in the Parliament.

Renowned Advocates Harish Salve and Nariman argued that the Government is going ahead with the process of State bifurcation without a resolution in the Assembly and contrary to the wishes of Seemandhra people not caring the suggestions made by the SriKrishna Committee.

But the Supreme Court expressed that the case cannot be taken up now as it is not the right time to hear the arguments at present. However, the petitioners are advised that they can come back to the court at the right time.

Government can have any type of deliberations which cannot be objected by the court.  The arguments are meaningful only when the Bill comes to the Parliament as that will be the action of the Government. That will be treated as an attempt to bifurcate the State.
