Sikh Professor attacked in Harlem USA

Professor Prabhjot Singh working for the school of International and Public Affairs on the night of Saturday while he was walking in Harlem near New York.

A group of persons attacked him calling him terrorist and Osama.  They pulled his long beard and puched on his face that made him break a jaw and many teeth were displaced making it hard for him talk to narrate the horrible attack on him.

He was admitted in the hospital.  Police are investigating the hate crime.  It happened when after returning from dinner he dropped his wife and child at home and went on a walk.  The assailants, as his friend Simran Jit Singh puts it, have not seen a Professor in him or the local doctor but they saw only man with a beard and turban and a chance of taking revenge.

The hate attack was condemned by the civil rights group Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) and blamed political and religious leaders who speak bigotry that spreads hate in the country.

The exhibition of their hatred indicates the poor knowledge they have about the religions that Sikhs are different from Muslims.  Even if the Professor belongs to the Muslim community, punishing entire community for a wrong doing of a small group that belongs to that community itself is wrong.
